Sterilizatione
Sterilization process
- 1º Instrument cleaning and disinfection: First, the instruments are placed in the Thermal Disinfection device, where they are pressure washed at 90º C for 20 minutes. Next, the instruments are submerged in a disinfectant ultrasonic bath for at least 7 minutes. This causes any adhered material to become detached.
- 2º Visual inspection of the instruments to check for cleanliness and subsequent drying.
- 3º Packaging in self-sealing bags.
- 4º Sterilization of the instruments. This is performed in an autoclave (high-pressure oven). The instruments remain at 121ºC and a pressure of 15 Psi for 20 minutes, after which no form of microbiologic life (bacteria, viruses, spores, etc.) can exist.
- 5º The instruments are stored in germicide cabinets until they are used.
