STERILIZATION: •
STERILIZATION PROCESS 1º
Instrument cleaning and disinfection: First, the
instruments are placed in the Thermal Disinfection device, where
they are pressure washed at 90o C for 20 minutes. Next,
the instruments are submerged in a disinfectant ultrasonic bath
for at least 7 minutes. This causes any adhered material to become
detached. 2º
Visual inspection of the instruments to check for cleanliness and
subsequent drying. 3º
Packaging in self-sealing bags. 4º
Sterilization of the instruments. This
is performed in an autoclave (high-pressure oven). The instruments
remain at 121ºC and a pressure of 15 Psi for 20 minutes, after
which no form of microbiologic life (bacteria, viruses, spores,
etc.) can exist. 5º
The instruments are stored in germicide cabinets until they are
used.
