Our clinic's specialization in minimally invasive surgery has been recognized by the international community with the participation of Dr. Alberto Sicilia as a speaker in the International Congress organized by the European Federation of Periodontology (EUROPERIO 6), hosted last June in Stockholm. EUROPERIO is the world's most important scientific triennial event in the field of Perodontics and Dental Implants. Here is where Dr. Sicilia presented his conference on "Accuracy of Implant Placement Systems with Minimally Invasive Surgery". More than one thousand worldwide professionals attentively followed the conference, which started reviewing all existing computer-guided surgery systems; afterwards, Dr. Sicilia described our experience with 4 different navigation systems that make our clinic a point of reference in this field.

Works on two of our development lines have deserved publication in international magazines.

Last August the Journal of Clinical Periodontology published our paper on dentine sensitivity or dental hypersensitivity - a very uncomfortable pain that appears on exposed roots when they come in contact with cold - where for the first time we demonstrated the immediate efficacy of diode laser in the reduction of dental pain caused by cold stimuli. A 72% pain reduction was obtained applying a diode laser treatment compared with a 28% pain reduction in the control group.

And in September, the magazine Clinical Oral Implants Research published an abstract of our paper on bone regeneration in sinus lift techniques. Normally, patients with inadequate bone quantity for implant placement in the posterior region of the jaw are discarded for implant treatment. In this study, the results of 24 consecutive patients were analyzed; 29 maxillary sinuses were submitted to regenerative surgery, obtaining a mean value of 13 mm of bone augmentation. This allowed the placement of 65 100% successful implants.

The 6th Europerio Congress, organised by the European Federation of Periodontology, took place in Stockholm (Sweden) from June 4th to 6th, having 5,000 attendees from 80 different countries.

This important congress is a worldwide reference in Periodontology and Dental Implants due to its amazing scientific program, where the latest researches in Periodontology are presented. This time, more than 150 internationally renowned speakers have participated and exposed their new findings in Periodontology and Dental Implants. Once more, Prof. Dr. Alberto Sicilia was amongst the speakers in the core program with the greatly attended conference "Precision and Accuracy in Computer Assisted Implant Positioning", which created a great deal of excitement among speakers as Dr. Sicilia is a pioneer in computer guided microsurgery and has become in recent years a worldwide known expert in this field.
