PERIODONTAL DISEASE
PROGRESS OF PERIODONTAL DISEASE
- 1º Healthy periodontium. The root is completely buried in the bone.
- 2º After the build-up of plaque and the inflammatory response of the patient, incipient bone loss appears.
- 3º The destruction of the bone continues. Gingival recession begins to appear (receding gums).
- 4º Bone loss is so significant that tooth mobility appears.
- 5º At this point the disease is in an advanced state. Tooth mobility is accentuated and bone loss is severe.
- 6º Finally, the teeth fall out because the bone that supports them is missing.
